BUIDL
BUIDL became a battle cry for actively contributing to cryptoasset projects during the ICO*** boom of 2018 instead of just speculating on token projects expecting to get rich.
It’s unclear who coined the term. Vitalik Buterin became a prominent backer of the movement. Reflecting his belief, token prices had far outpaced the space’s capabilities and energy needed to be redirected from trading to building out the Ethereum ecosystem to encourage wider spread adoption of projects functioning with their intended capabilities.
Buidl does not just refer to the code developers contribute to projects though. It encompasses a range of activities.
Including:
- A token holder who takes the time to use a token project as intended instead of just trading in and out of currencies as investments.
- Using products built for the crypto ecosystem like wallets
- Contributing content like articles and videos to educate people about a project’s purpose
